Southeast Asia Library Group Annual Meeting 2025 – Call for Papers

The Annual Meeting and Conference of the Southeast Asia Library Group (SEALG) will take place at the University of Passau, Germany, on 27-28 June 2025. Prof. Dr. Martina Padmanabhan, Chair of Critical Development Studies – Southeast Asia will host the meeting.

In preparation of the Annual Meeting – which will take place in hybrid form – SEALG invites paper proposals by library and archive staff as well as from scholars and graduate students.

Proposed themes:

– Collections, archives, and library work in the field of Southeast Asian Studies

– Recent developments in collections, archives, and libraries

– Acquisition, storage, and access of born digital material

– Contested heritage, providing access to heritage communities

– Decolonization debates related to collections, archives and libraries

A paper presentation should not exceed 30 minutes (including time for questions / discussion). Paper abstracts should be no more than 200 words and must include a title, author’s name and affiliation, as well as contact details.

Please submit your paper proposal including abstract to Friederike Trotier (friederike.trotier(AT)uni-passau.de) and Holger Warnk (h.warnk(AT)em.uni-frankfurt.de) not later than by 25 May 2025.

Publication of a paper will be possible in the SEALG Newsletter which is online at https://sealg.hypotheses.org/newsletter or as a blog post (https://southeastasianlibrarygroup.wordpress.com/).
